The Family Crisis Center, a part of Child and Family, strives to provide total family treatment through its domestic violence programs.  They help end the cycle of violence by strengthening individuals, couples and their children.

Some of the Center’s services include:

  • Safe emergency shelter for abused women and children
  • Individual and group counseling and support groups
  • 24 hour a day, 365 days a year, crisis line
  • Training in conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Referrals for housing, legal services, employment and education
  • Children’s treatment programs

 Volunteer Opportunities
1.  Babysit children while moms are in support groups, etc.
2.  Help clean/organize clothes donations, etc.
3.  Go to court with a woman
4.  Mentor a mom or a child
5.  Help prepare dinner for the residents
6.  Put together care packages with toiletry items, snacks, etc.
7.  Collect sheets, towels, pillows for the shelter
8.  Throw a baby shower for an expectant mom or organize a fun event.

These are just a few of the volunteer opportunities.  If you have a heart for women and children trying to get out of abusive relationships this is an opportunity for you.

Commitment Level:
There are short term and long term volunteer opportunities.
